Fairway Cove HOA May 2017 Newsletter

GARAGE SALE: Our spring garage sale will be on Saturday May 20, 2017, from 8 AM to noon. There is no charge to participate, and HOA will do some advertising and signage on Hiawassee. Please contact Donna Semel at 973.214.6344 if you plan to participate. All homeowners that do not respond by May 15 will not have their address listed on the signage.

A GOOD THOROUGH SPRING CLEANING: Many of our properties would benefit from Pressure Washing of sidewalks, driveways and lead-walks. We have arranged for a “neighborhood discount” from a local pressure washing company: Premier Roof Cleaning / H&R Pressure Washing. They are offering 10% off for cleaning sidewalks, or 15% off for cleaning sidewalks + driveways + lead-walks for anyone in Fairway Cove who schedules a pressure watch on Saturday May 28. Call Rashelle at Premier Roof Cleaning / H&R Pressure Washing at 407-699-4447 to get a free quote for your property and to schedule your cleaning. Typical prices: $45 for sidewalk, $104 for sidewalk + driveway + lead-walk. (These are approximate prices, subject to variation depending on size and shape of your property).

GREASE IS THE WORD: A polite reminder to neighbors on a topic which affects all of us! Used grease, fat, and oil from cooking should GO TO THE TRASH, not down the kitchen sink. Allow them to cool to room temperature, put them in a plastic container, and put the container in the regular trash (NOT the recycle bin). Grease dumped down the kitchen sink can lead to sewer pipe blockage, affecting your home or the whole neighborhood. For larger quantities, or for recycling options, please see http://www.cityoforlando.net/grease.

A NEW DAY IS COMING!: AT&T has sent the Fairway Cove HOA a notice that they will be installing fiber in our neighborhood to improve Internet speeds and TV quality. This work should begin in May or June, and will be within existing AT&T easements (generally at the front of our properties). They are responsible for restoring anything they disturb in the course of their work. Look for door hangars from AT&T as they determine specific dates and properties.

2017 FAIRWAY COVE HOA ANNUAL MEETING SUMMARY: The HOA Annual Meeting was held on Thursday, April 27. “Friendly Confines” in the Publix shopping center (MetroWest Village) was an excellent host, with soft-drinks, appetizers and desserts galore. During the first part of the get-together, we met new neighbors and re-acquainted with old friends. The Business Meeting portion included the outcome of the election of officers. There were four open seats due to terms ending for four current members of the Board of Directors. Only four nomination forms were submitted—by the same four current members—so they were re-elected. (See Board of Directors). The agenda included overviews of the HOA budget, grounds, security, social, and website/communications areas. The MetroWest Master Association (MWMA) has adopted new Leasing Standards for the community, and more details will follow on this important topic. And we met two of our newest neighbors, June Ings and Orlando City Commissioner Samuel Ings.
